Canterbury-Bankstown has snapped a six-game losing streak with a determined 18-10 victory over Canberra in freezing conditions in the national capital on Monday night.

The Bulldogs burst out of the blocks with three unanswered tries in the opening quarter before the Raiders hit back with two four-pointers to cut the deficit to eight points at the break.

Neither side troubled the scoreboard attendant in a dour second half as Kevin Moore's men repeatedly repelled a toothless Raiders attack to claim two valuable competition points and keep their finals hopes alive.

Veteran half-back Brett Kimmorley and NSW hooker Michael Ennis led the way for the visitors, while Jamal Idris also impressed after being moved to the back-row.

The victory was soured by an injury to Steve Turner with the veteran winger suffering a dislocated elbow midway through the second half.

Despite the win the Bulldogs remain in 14th spot on the NRL ladder on 12 points, while the Raiders hold onto 12th position.

Josh Morris opened the scoring in the fifth minute after some slick lead-up work from the Bulldogs' left-side attack, with Luke Patten delivering the final pass for the former NSW centre to score despite Josh Dugan's attempts to strip the ball on the tryline.

Bryson Goodwin added the extras from the sideline for 6-0.

The visitors doubled their advantage with a brilliant long-range effort 10 minutes later.

Ryan Tandy delivered a beautiful ball for excitement machine Ben Barba who beat Dugan and Daniel Vidot in a 60m run to the line, with Goodwin again adding the extras from in front.

The onslaught continued when Ennis sent David Stagg through a gap who found Patten on his inside for the easiest of tries and an 18-point buffer.

The Raiders finally gave the home crowd reason to cheer in the 24th minute when Terry Campese found Joel Monaghan with a 20m cut-out pass for the Raiders' opening four-pointer of the night.

Momentum stayed with the hosts who had the final say of the half when Joel Thompson crashed over four minutes from half-time.

Jarrod Croker added the extras to trim the deficit to eight points.

The Raiders very nearly scored after the siren when Croker found space down the touchline and kicked ahead for himself, with Patten just getting enough boot on the ball to find touch and preserve the Bulldogs' 18-10 advantage at the break.

And that's how it stayed.
