While attending St Francis Xavier College in 1997, Michael Hodgson played for the Australian Schoolboys team.
In 1998, Michael made his first grade debut for Parramatta against South Sydney at the Sydney Football Stadium in round 21.
He went on to play a total of 20 games for the Eels before signing with Canberra in 2001 where he remained until 2006, playing 98 matches for the green machine.
Michael joined the Gold Coast Titans for their inaugural season in 2007, leading from the front for two seasons, playing a total of 35 games.
In 2009, Michael joined the Bulldogs to boost the blue-and-white forward pack as they look to regain that force up front.
Michael was another key off season recruit who brings with him a wealth of knowledge and an unprecedented level of professionalism.
Michael played 24 games for Canterbury in 2009 as the club finished 2nd on the table. On 25 September 2009, Michael played for Canterbury in their preliminary final match against his former club Parramatta. In front of a non-grand final record crowd of 74,549, Canterbury went on to lose the game 22-12.
In 2010 Michael was re-signed by Canterbury until the end of 2011.
In 2011, Michael was a member of the Bulldogs NSW Cup premiership winning team against the Auckland Vulcans, his last game before retiring.
