Wests Tigers have been convincingly thumped by the Canterbury Bulldogs at Campbelltown tonight, losing 38-6, and disappointing many of the 15,774 who turned up to watch the game.
The Bulldogs could of taken the scoreline further but seemed to move back to first gear early on in the second half, after leading 38-0 in around 60 minutes. Willie Talau scored first for the Bulldogs taking an intercept in the 6th minute, allowing the Bulldogs to really put the pressure on the home side.
Two grubber kicks behind the Tigers line, just seemed to make it too easily for Glen Hughes and Braith Anasta to score tries. Then up in the front line, the Bulldog's found their way through, with Willie Mason making the impact before handing it to Nigel Vagana to score his first of three tries.
This saw the Bulldogs up 20-0 at half time. The second half they came out just as explosive, with Vagana scoring twice more, and Anasta scoring his second. El Masri kicked five goals which will go along way in his challenge to become the top goal scorer in 2003, and see every successful kick he gets earn $100 to charity thanks to Microsoft's X-Box.
Tigers winger, Mark O'Halloran, scored late for the home side to add a little bit of respectability to the score line, but Tigers' coach Tim Sheens will have a lot to think about now before next week. This match shows that Wests major problem seems to be consistency. It is obvious they wont win every week, but at least should be competitive, something they were not tonight, giving up as soon as things didn't go their way.
