Glen Hughes joined Canterbury in 1991 as a five eighth.

The son of Garry Hughes and the brother of Steven and Corey Hughes, Glen started the season late to become a regular member of the Under 21 team and played in the Premiership winning team against Parramatta.

In 1992, Glen started the season in first grade against North Sydney due to Terry Lamb being injured and later became a regular member of the reserve grade team.

In 1993, Glen continued in reserve grade and played in the Preliminary Final against Newcastle.

In 1994, Glen was injured late in the season to miss the finals.

In 1995 he was used as a regular first grade replacement and secured a centre position late in the season when Jarrod McCracken was relegated. Glen was injured in the Qualifying Semi-Final but returned to play in the Premiership winning team against Manly as a replacement. Glen scored an important try, just seconds after coming on the field.

In 1996, Glen was the regular member of the first grade team as lock.

In 1997, Glen started the season on the interchange bench and spent most of the season playing lock.

In 1998, Glen was the regular five eighth for most of the season but returned to the interchange bench for the finals. He played in the Grand Final against Brisbane.

In 1999, Glen started the season as lock and moved to five eighth when Travis Norton returned from injury. He played in the Qualifying Semi-Final against the Roosters on the interchange bench but was injured and missed the Semi-Final.

In 2000, Glen played lock for most of the season and in 2001, started the season in reserve grade and returned to first grade when Travis Norton was injured. He played in the Qualifying Final against St George but was injured to miss the Semi-Final.

In 2002, Glen became a regular interchange player and captained the team on two occasions.

In 2003, Glen started the season in first grade as a second row before returning to the interchange mid-season. He played in the Preliminary Final against the Roosters as an interchange player.

Glen started the 2004 season late due to injury and did not complete the season. He joined the Milton-Ulladulla club in 2005 to win the Group 7 Premiership.

In 2004, Glen was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions and is a Life Member of the Club.
