The Bulldogs will finish no lower than third on the National Rugby League ladder after recording a 28-14 victory over the Sharks at Shark Park.

In the afternoon's other clashes, the Melbourne Storm have secured fifth position heading into the finals series with a 40-10 win over Manly at Olympic Park, while earlier, the New Zealand Warriors beat Wests Tigers 32-12 at Ericsson Stadium to finish sixth.

The Bulldogs have moved into second position on points difference but will be overtaken by either the Sydney Roosters or Canberra, who clash on Sunday.

Bulldogs winger Hazem El Masri bagged 16 points through a try and six goals as his team converted a 20-4 half-time advantage into a win.

Ben Harris scored a double for the Dogs in the first half as they went to a 12-0 lead, before Phil Bailey hit back for the home side.

The Sharks actually won the second half through early tries to David Peachey and Roy Friend, but El Masri's try with 14 minutes left snuffed out any chances of a Sharks' revival.

Chris Anderson's team finished the season in fourth-last position, eight points outside the top eight.
