Johnathan Thurston joined the Bulldogs in 2001 as a five eighth.
Johnathan became a regular member of the Flegg team and played in the Premiership winning team against Cronulla.
In 2002, Johnathan was a regular member of the Premier League team and broke Brent Sherwin's 1998 reserve grade record for the most points in a season. He scored 202 points in 16 games.
Johnathan received the opportunity to play in the NRL against Penrith as a replacement. He returned to the Premier League to play in the Premiership winning team against St George Illawarra.
In 2003, Johnathan started the season in the NRL and was a regular member of the team. He was relegated before the finals for Braith Anasta and played in the Preliminary Final against Roosters.
In 2004, Johnathan started the season in the NRL but suffered a knee injury. He returned to Premier League to play in the Qualifying Semi-Final against Penrith before receiving the call up in the NRL, replacing the injured Steve Price and played in the Premiership winning team against the Roosters.
In 2005, Johnathan joined the North Queensland Cowboys.
