North Queensland's Maroons stars Johnathan Thurston, Ty Williams and Matt Bowen continued their post-State of Origin celebrations on Friday night as they helped the Cowboys blow away the Bulldogs at the Gold Coast's Carrara Stadium.
The Cowboys won the NRL round 12 opener 48-12, with Williams scoring two tries and Bowen and Thurston adding one apiece as all three backed up from superb efforts in Wednesday's Origin win over New South Wales.
The sides had been locked at 12-12 at half-time, but in the second half the Bulldogs were held scoreless as the Cowboys piled on six unanswered tries.
Thurston, whose field goal forced the Origin match into extra time, was again unerring with the boot, kicking all four of his conversion attempts, with Justin Smith adding the other four.
Williams said it was satisfying to knock off another New South Wales side on Queensland soil.
"To beat the premiers, we know they've got a few players out sort of thing, but we were away and that was their home game," he said.
"It was good to get a win on the coast and get home next week and play Cronulla."
A fast-paced first half had seen the Bulldogs having the best of the early action before Thurston's try and the ensuing conversion levelled the scores in the 36th minute.
The Bulldogs' Hazem El Masri put the first points on the board with a penalty in the fourth minute and Roy Asotasi crossed the line for a try under the posts just moments later.
A try to Steve Southern saw the Cowboys hit back in the 12th minute, with Thurston kicking the conversion.
But two more penalties to El Masri saw the Dogs leading 12-6 before Thurston's late effort locked up the scores at the break.
In contrast the second half was all one-way traffic.
Williams and Bowen scored quick tries in the first six minutes of the half to break the Bulldogs' resolve.
Another try to Williams was bookended by efforts from Jacob Lillyman, Aaron Payne and Shane Tronc as the Cowboys ran away with the game.
Carl Webb and Paul Bowman were left out of the Cowboys' side as they continued their recoveries from Origin injuries.
