Equipped with speed and agility, Phelps joined the Bulldogs in 2002 as a five eighth.
Cameron started late in the season and became a regular member of the Flegg team playing in the Preliminary Final against St George Illawarra as a centre.
In 2003, Cameron played in every game of the Flegg season including the Premiership winning team against Cronulla as a five eighth.
In 2004, Cameron started the season in the Premier League and became a regular member of the team. He played in the Qualifying Semi Final against the Roosters as a centre.
In 2005, Cameron started the season in the Premier League and received the opportunity to play in the NRL against Manly when Willie Tonga was injured.
He almost lifted himself to hero status when he looked to score a try in golden point extra-time against South Sydney in Round 13, only to be denied by the video referee as the two sides drew 21-all.
In 2006, Cameron played 12 further games in the NRL when Willie Tonga and Matt Utai were injured.
In 2007, Cameron played 11 matches and a total of 765 minutes. The 22-year-old Bulldogs junior score seven tries and was impressive out wide in both attack and defence. Cameron produced 73 hitups, 32 dummy-half runs and gained 861 metres.
In 2008, Cameron played 3 first grade games before departing for English Super League Club Wigan a day after his final match with the Bulldogs.
Cameron produced a superb swansong with a hand in two tries for centre Tim Winitana before an emotional send-off in front of the Bulldogs faithful.
