The Bulldogs snapped a three-game losing streak with a 40-20 win over a 12-man New Zealand Warriors side at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland.

Warriors winger Michael Crockett was sent off by referee Sean Hampstead in just the fifth minute after knocking out opposite Cameron Phelps with a high shot.

Despite having a one-man advantage the Bulldogs could only manage a 18-14 lead at halftime thanks to a Jarrad Hickey try nearing the siren.

The sloppy encounter continued in the second term and it wasn't until the final 20 minutes that the Dogs finally put the Warriors to the sword in front of 10,041 fans.

Three tries in nine minutes to Kane Cleal (63rd minute), Reni Maitua (67th) and Ben Roberts (72nd) ensured the blue and whites ran out winners and lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with just their fifth win of 2007.

Kiwi superstar Sonny Bill Williams led the way for the Bulldogs with two tries in one of his strongest games of the season.

After a week in which rumours emerged that coach Steve Folkes's job was under threat, the victory will ease the pressure on the Belmore side who enjoy a bye next weekend.

The Warriors, however, face more soul searching this week as the result marks their fifth successive defeat.

The Auckland-based side's task gets no easier next week when they host ladders leaders Melbourne.
