One of the Bulldogs most versatile players, Reni Maitua slots in all over the park - lock, second row, centre and even five eighth.

Reni joined the Bulldogs in 2002 as a lock forward before becoming a regular member of the Premier League team where he played in the Premiership winning team against St George Illawarra.

In 2003, Reni was a regular member of the Premier League team and played in the Preliminary Final against Penrith from the bench.

In 2004, Reni started the season in the NRL, making his first grade debut in Round 1 against Parramatta before becoming a regular member of the team. He played in the Premiership winning side against the Roosters in which the Bulldogs won 16-13 at Telstra Stadium.

Reni was apart of the side who went down 32-39 in the 2005 World Club Challengs against the Leeds Rhinos and despite having a season interrupted by illness and injury, he was chosen to play for City Origin in 2005.

In 2006, he started the season from the bench and emerged as the regular lock for most of the season before suffering a knee injury in the final round against Penrith. The 25-year-old had arthroscopic surgery before recovering and taking his place on the interchange bench in the Preliminary Final loss against Brisbane.

In October 2006, Reni got the call up for the Australian Tri-Nations squad after Broncos lock forward Tonie Carroll was ruled out by medical staff. The next step came when Australian coach Ricky Stuart named Maitua for the opening Tri-Nations game against New Zealand. Unfortunately Reni picked up an ankle injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the series.

In 2007, Reni was the only Bulldog to play all 26 games. He played a total of 1,668 minutes of football, scoring six tries, produced 13 line breaks, 252 hitups and gained 2,185 metres.

In 2008 Reni played 14 games after suffering a few injuries in a horror season for the Club.

In 2009, Reni joined Cronulla.

In 2014, after stints at Cronulla and Parramatta, Reni returned to the Bulldogs to make 13 appearances.

On 19 December 2014, Reni signed a two year contract with the Featherstone Rovers commencing in 2015.
