Jarrad Hickey is a local product of the St Christophers Junior Rugby League Club, which has also produced three of his teammates - Brent Sherwin, Corey Hughes and Cameron Phelps.
Jarrad joined the Bulldogs in 2002 as a prop forward before playing every game in 2003 for the Jersey Flegg side, including the Premiership winning team against Cronulla where he started the game from the bench.
In 2004, he started the season in Premier League but by mid-season had returned to Jersey Flegg to be a regular member of the team where he played in the Semi Final against Cronulla.
In 2005, Jarrad started the season as captain of the Flegg team but was soon promoted to Premier League to become a regular member of the team. He played in the Qualifying Semi Final against the Roosters, starting from the bench.
The 21-year-old prop-forward made a name for himself in 2006 when he made his first grade debut in Round 11 against the Sharks at Telstra Stadium.
Standing at 195cm and weighing in at 115kg, Jarrad Hickey is certainly more than a handful for the opposition.
For a big man, Jarrad has great mobility. He has very good hands and his support play is solid.
Jarrad aggressive and ruthless attitude along with his bustling runs and enormous defence has impressed the coaching staff at the Bulldogs.
In season 2006 he managed to play seven first grade games; playing 248 minutes, making 101 tackles, 85 hitups, 642 metres and crashed over for a four-pointer against the Wests Tigers in Round 17.
Jarrad was chosen in the NRL Rookie Camp in January 2007 - a camp consisting of 64 young players on the verge of big things.
In 2007, Jarrad missed just three games and played a total of 831 minutes. He scored five tries, made 399 tackles, 211 hitups and gained 1,705 metres.
Jarrad made a further 42 appearances for the Bulldogs between 2008-2010
On 15 April 2011, Jarrad signed a 2 year deal with Super League club Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
