The Bulldogs strolled to an effortless 25-0 win over the Sydney Roosters at Telstra Stadium in a match marred by the sending off of controversial Roosters prop Adrian Morley.
Morley was given his marching orders in the 68th minute for kneeing Corey Hughes in the abdomen as the Bulldogs hooker attempted to play the ball close to the Roosters' line.
Rookie referee Jarred Maxwell consulted touch judge Pat Reynolds before sending Morley off the field in what may turn out to be his final match in the NRL.
Morley is set to return home to England to play with Warrington in the Super League from next season.
The two competition points never looked in any doubt with the Dogs hardly getting out of second gear in posting three tries to nil, the win finally putting an end to the Roosters' top eight hopes.
The Bulldogs on the other hand continue to gather momentum towards a run deep into the finals, though they are likely to face stiffer resistance than what the error-riddled Roosters were able to produce in a game notable for a whistle-happy performance from Maxwell.
Maxwell blew 14 penalties in the first half alone, nine going the way of the Bulldogs, with Roosters skipper Craig Fitzgibbon warned three times that another infringement would result in a sin-binning.
The bin was never used although the hefty penalty count did allow Bulldogs winger Hazem El Masri to pot three penalty goals, which along with Andrew Emelio's 11th minute try gave the home side a 10-0 lead at the break.
Already looking impotent in attack, the Roosters lost centre Ryan Cross five minutes after halftime and it quickly got worse with Sonny Bill Williams brushing through some feeble defence to make it 16-0 just a minute later.
A try to Bulldogs skipper Andrew Ryan six minutes from time gave the scoreboard a more deserved look before Brent Sherwin rubbed salt into the wounds with a late field goal.
