The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have suffered a 28-nil loss to the Penrith Panthers in their first home game of the 2021 season.

Played on a wet and soaked Bankwest Stadium, the Panthers ran in five tries to claim their second win of the season.

For the home side, Josh Jackson was impressive with 64 tackles and a tackle efficiency of 100%, while Will Hopoate ran for over 170 metres and centre Nick Cotric came up with 10 tackle breaks.

Penrith opened the scoring through Viliame Kikau who collected a pass from Jarome Luai down their left-hand side of the field to score in the corner.

The Dogs looked to have hit back when Corey Allan collected a Nick Cotric kick to score, but after being awarded the try, the bunker overturned the on-field decision because of a knock-on in the lead up to Allan scoring.

Then just before halftime Tyrone May collected a Luai kick to put the Panthers up 10-0 at the break.

The visitors ran in three second half tries with Kikau collecting his second of the match in the 58th minute and centre Paul Momirovski grabbing a double in the final ten minutes of the match to give Penrith the win on a water-logged Bankwest Satdium.

For the Bulldogs, forward Raymond Faitala-Mariner (foot) didn’t return to the field after halftime and winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak was placed on report for a high tackle on Nathan Cleary.
