A local juniors, John Kite was graded mid-season from the St Johns Eagles club after playing in the SG Ball Cup team in 2005. He became a regular member of the Flegg Cup team for the rest of the season, mainly playing in the second row or prop. John played in the Flegg Cup Semi Final against the Roosters.
In 2006, John retained his position in the Flegg Cup team, mainly playing from the interchange bench and played in the Preliminary Final against Penrith.
In 2007, John continued in the Flegg Cup squad mainly as an interchange forward. He played in the Preliminary Final against Parramatta.
In 2008, John became a regular prop in the National Youth Competition. John received the opportunity to play in the NRL in place of Danny Williams on July 7 against South Sydney.
John has plied his trade through the grades, including working as a trainee under the watchful eye of his childhood idol and Bulldogs legend Terry Lamb.

An exciting local junior talent who is progressing nicely through the grades, highlighted by his 2008 NRL first grade debut. This proud Tongan boys Christian name is actually "Sione".
Kite wants to be a Tongan role model both on and off the field. Another one of the three Bulldogs youngsters to be named in the NYC Team of the Year in 2008.
In 2009, John was a member of the Bulldogs feeder club, the Bankstown Bulls NSW Cup premiership winning team against Balmain Ryde.
At the end of the 2009 season, John signed with the Melbourne Storm.
In 2013, John returned to the Bulldogs to play 19 games in the NSW Cup.
