Billy Miller joined Canterbury in 1951 as a fullback.
He played in the third grade semi-final against South Sydney in 1951. In 1952, Billy moved to play centre and became a regular in reserve grade.
He received the opportunity to play first grade when Alan Schwebel was injured. Billy was a member of the 1952 reserve grade Grand Final team that played South Sydney.
He continued to be a regular lower grade player in 1953 and secured a first grade position in 1954 and 1955 before departing the club in 1956.
He returned in 1957 for one further season in first grade.
