Wally Brown joined Canterbury in 1949 as a winger.

In 1951, Wally was able to become a regular member of the reserve grade team before returning to third grade to play in the semi-final against South Sydney.

Wally played mainly in third grade in 1952 but was able to secure a reserve grade spot in 1953. Wally received an opportunity to play first grade when Barry Stenhouse was injured.

In 1954, injury to Col Cooper enabled Wally to secure a wing position in first grade. He continued in reserve grade in 1955 as captain, playing first grade when injuries occurred.

Wally passed away in 1990 at the age of 1962.
