Debut 1942: Round 4 vs South Sydney
Rep

Tony Nash joined Canterbury in 1940 and progressed through the grades as a winger.

In 1942, Tony proved to be a sensation when he scored four tries in his first grade debut against South Sydney at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Four tries on debut is still an NRL record which is shared by Johnno Stuntz (Roosters) in 1908 and Viv Farnsworth (Newtown) in 1910.

Unfortunately, Tony suffered a broken ankle midway through the season and despite a comeback in 1946 was never the same exciting player that averaged a try a game in first grade.
