Tony Currie played for Brisbane Wests and Redcliffe as a fullback.
Tony played for Queensland in 1982 before joining Canterbury in 1986, late in the season. He received the opportunity to play first grade against Parramatta when Glen Frendo was relegated.
Tony played in the Semi-Final against Parramatta but received an injury and missed the Final and Grand Final.
In 1987, Tony started the season in reserve grade and returned to first grade as a winger replacing Glen Frendo.
In 1988, Tony became a regular centre in first grade and represented Australia. He played 15 games for Queensland from 1982 to 1989 and played seven Tests for Australia from 1988 to 1989.
Tony played in the Premiership winning team against Balmain.
In 1989, Tony joined Brisbane to play 37 games from 1989 to 1992. After being selected for the New Zealand tour in 1990, Tony missed the Kangaroo tour due to an achilles tendon injury.
Tony coached in the UK for many seasons.
