Steve White joined Canterbury in 1974 as a centre.
Steve became a regular member of the Under 23s team but only played in the finals as a replacement. He was a replacement in the Grand Final against St George.
Steve rose through the grades in 1975 and received the opportunity to play first grade late in the season against North Sydney when Chris Anderson was unavailable.
Steve played in the first grade Preliminary Semi-Final against Parramatta.
In 1976, Steve started the season in reserve grade but was relegated mid-season. He played in the Under 23 Grand Final against Easts (Roosters).
In 1977, Steve remained in Under 23s and played in the play off for 5th place.
In 1978, Steve joined Parramatta to play 4 games.
Steve returned in 1979 to captain the Under 23s while playing in the second row.
