Steve Mavin played 89 games for South Sydney from 1987 to 1992 as a centre in two stints.

In 1991, Steve joined Canterbury to become a regular winger in the first grade team after making his first grade debut for the club against his former team, South Sydney.

He was relegated late in the season for Jarrod McCracken and in 1992, Steve returned to South Sydney.
