Sandy Campbell joined Canterbury in 1985 as a centre.
He was a regular member of the Under 23 team in his first season but progressed through the grades quickly to receive the opportunity to play first grade in 1986 against Cronulla when Steve O'Brien was injured.
Sandy spent most of the season in first grade but was relegated for Glen Frendo.
In 1987, Sandy was a regular member of the reserve grade team but received many opportunities to play first grade. He played in the reserve grade Preliminary Semi-Final against Easts (Roosters).
In 1988, Sandy started the season in first grade but lost his position mid-season for Steve O'Brien.
In 1989, Sandy joined Easts (Roosters) to play 24 games from 1989 to 1990.
In 1991, Sandy played 19 games for South Sydney in his final season.
