Ross Conlon played 34 games for Western Suburbs from 1981 to 1982 as a goal kicking centre.

In 1983, Ross joined Canterbury to be a regular member of the first grade team, playing on the wing.

Ross had his hip dislocated in the Preliminary Semi-Final against Parramatta and missed the remaining matches.

In 1984, Ross was selected for three games against NSW and played one Test against Great Britain but was relegated before the finals for Max Mannix.

Ross joined Balmain in 1985 to play 74 games from 1985 to 1988 including the Grand Final against Canterbury.

Thereafter, Ross returned to the North Coast as a captain-coach.
