Roger Ward joined Canterbury in 1961 as a winger.

In 1962, Roger became a regular member of the reserve grade playing centre and wing. He received the opportunity to play first grade against Western Suburbs.

Roger played in the reserve grade Semi-Final against Parramatta which was his last game for the club.
