Rod Silva played 92 games for Easts (Roosters) from 1988 to 1995 as a fullback.
Mid-season in 1995, Rod joined the Bulldogs and Rod started in reserve grade before receiving the opportunity to play first grade against Parramatta when Kris Tassell was injured. He became the regular fullback and played in the Premiership winning team against Manly.
In 1996, Rod started the season in first grade but was relegated for Damien Ford. He returned to first grade when Hazem El Masri was relegated.
In 1997, Rod was a regular member of the first grade team and played in the Preliminary Semi-Final against Penrith.
In 1998, Rod started the season in reserve grade but returned to first grade late in the season scoring, almost a try a game (11) to play in the Grand Final against Brisbane.
In 1999, Rod played every first grade game and scored the most tries by a Canterbury fullback in a season, finishing one try short of Chris Anderson's record for most tries in a season - 19 tries. He played in the 1999 Semi-Final against Melbourne.
In 2000, Rod started the season in first grade but late in the season was relegated to reserve grade for Willie Talau. He played in the reserve grade Premiership winning team against Penrith.
In 2001, Rod was a regular member of the reserve grade team but played his last game in first grade, scoring a try as a winger.
In 2004, Rod was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
