Robert Tocco played 29 games for Gold Coast from 1992 to 1994 as a prop forward.
In 1995, Robert joined the Bulldogs to start the season in reserve grade before receiving the opportunity to play first grade against Balmain when Darrien Doherty was injured. He was a regular member of the reserve grade team.

In 1997, Robert became a regular member of the reserve grade team and played in the Premiership winning team against Auckland.
In 1998, Robert started the season in first grade but was relegated when Solomon Haumono returned to the team. He then became a regular member of the reserve grade team and played in the Preliminary Semi Final against Penrith. Robert missed the rest of the finals due to injury.
