Robert Relf joined Canterbury in 1990 as a second row forward.
Robert was a regular replacement in the Under 21 team and played in the Preliminary Semi-Final against Parramatta as a replacement.
In 1991, Robert became a regular prop in the Under 23 team and played in the Premiership winning team against Parramatta.
In 1992, Robert started the season against North Sydney as first grade hooker. He was injured and returned to reserve grade before completing the season in the Under 21 team.
In 1993, Robert became a regular member of the reserve grade team and played in the Preliminary Final against Newcastle.
In 1994, Robert continued in reserve grade and played in the Semi-Final against St George.
In 1995, Robert started the season in first grade and played in the Semi-Final against Brisbane but fractured a cheekbone and missed playing in the Grand Final.
In 1996, Robert played every match of the season and in 1997, remained a regular member of the first grade team.
In 1998, Robert started the season on the interchange bench and was relegated for Steve Reardon. He returned for the injured Steve Reardon to play in the Grand Final against Brisbane.
In 1999, Robert started the season on the interchange bench but was relegated for Steve Reardon. He returned when Barry Ward was injured to play in the Semi-Final against Melbourne.
In 2000, Robert joined North Queensland to play 45 games from 2000 to 2001.
In 2005, Robert made a short comeback in reserve grade before retiring.
In 2004, Robert was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions and is a Life Member of the Club.
