Peter Cassilles joined Canterbury in 1973 as a lock forward.
Peter progressed through the grades quickly to play in the reserve grade Semi-Final against Newtown.
Peter became a regular member of the reserve grade team in 1974 and received the opportunity to play first grade against Penrith as a replacement.
In 1975, Peter started the season in reserve grade but when Geoff Connell was injured, he spent the mid-season in first grade. Peter also played in the Preliminary Semi-Final against Parramatta as a replacement.
In 1976, Peter started in reserve grade but became a regular member of the first grade team when Graeme Hughes was injured. Unfortunately Peter was injured late in the season and missed the finals.
In 1977, Peter was the regular lock in first grade. After starting the 1978 season in first grade, injuries ruined Peter's season.
Peter returned in 1979 to become a regular second-row and played in the Grand Final against St George.
After missing the start of the 1980 season, Peter returned to first grade until Graeme Hughes returned from injury.
Thereafter, Peter was a regular member of the reserve grade team and played in the Premiership winning team against Parramatta.
In 1981, Peter started the season as reserve grade captain but returned to first grade when Garry Hughes was unavailable and Steve Folkes was moved to five eighth. Peter became a regular member of the first grade team.
After starting the 1982 season in first grade, Peter was injured mid-season which forced his retirement.
Peter was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions in 2004.
Peter was on the Football Club board and is a Life Member of the Football Club.
