Peter Atkinson played lower grades for South Sydney in 1960 before joining Canterbury in 1961 as a winger.

He was a regular member of the reserve grade team and received the opportunity to play first grade against St George when Noel Collie was injured.

He mainly played in reserve grade in 1962 and by 1963, Peter had moved to the second row and was a regular in the third grade team.

He played in the Grand Final against St George which was his last game for the club.

Peter passed away in September 2015.
