Ossie Samuels joined Canterbury in the inaugural season of 1935 playing in the first match in third grade.
Ossie played wing for his whole career and was a reliable club man that only played first grade when the regular players were injured.
In 1939, Ossie played in the Premiership winning reserve grade team and then two weeks later was called up into first grade to play in the winning City Cup team when Edgar Newham was injured.
Ossie's record of 35 reserve grade tries was not broken until 2001 when Rod Silva passed this total.
