Noel Morgan joined Canterbury in 1954 as a fullback.
After missing the 1955 season, he returned to third grade midway through the 1956 season. In 1957, Noel became a regular member of the reserve grade team, playing centre and five eighth.
Noel received his opportunity in first grade when Col Geelan was injured late in the season.
Noel continued in reserve grade in 1958, starting the season as captain but could only play a hand full of games late in the third grade season in 1959, missing out on the finals.
