Mick Potter joined Canterbury in 1983 as a centre.
Mick became a regular member of the reserve grade team and was moved to fullback. He received the opportunity to play first grade against Easts (Roosters).
In 1984, Mick returned to first grade when Chris Mortimer was injured and became the regular fullback for the next four seasons. He played his only game for NSW and played in the Premiership winning team against Parramatta.
In 1985, Mick played every game of the season including the Premiership winning team against St George.
In 1986, Mick broke his leg mid-season to miss the finals. In 1987, another leg injury ruined Mick's season and in 1988, Mick did not resume playing until mid-season.
In 1989, Mick joined St George to play 100 games between 1989 and 1993, playing in the 1992 and 1993 Grand Finals and captaining St George in 1993.
After missing 1994, Mick joined the Western Reds to play 21 games from 1995 to 1996.
In 2004, Mick was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
