Mick Basham joined Canterbury in 1973 as a front row forward.

Mick became a regular member of the Under 23s team and played in the Preliminary Final against Balmain.

In 1974, Mick's season was ruined by injury but in 1975, Mick returned to become a regular member of the reserve grade team before being relegated to play in the Under 23�s Preliminary Final against Balmain. He also played in the reserve grade Preliminary Semi-Final against Cronulla as a replacement.

In 1976, Mick was a regular member of the reserve grade team and received the opportunity to play first grade against Cronulla as a replacement.

In 1977, Mick continued in reserve grade and after missing 1978, returned in 1979 to play his last game in the reserve grade Grand Final against Parramatta.
