Max Cole played 11 first grade games for St George in two separate spells in 1972 and 1976 as a winger.

In 1973, Max joined Canterbury and started the season in reserve grade.

He received the opportunity to play first grade against Cronulla when Chris Anderson was injured and managed to secured a position in first grade for the rest of the season, including the Preliminary Semi-Final against Newtown.

In 1974, Max started the season in first grade but was relegated just before the finals to allow Garry Hughes into the backline. Max then played fullback in the Preliminary Final against Easts (Roosters).

In 1975, Max started the season in first grade but by mid-season was relegated when Keith Harris was moved to the centre position and missed the finals.

Max passed away in November 2018.
