Marty Driscoll joined Canterbury in 1967 as a hooker.
Prior to joining the club, Marty played in the lower grades with Western Suburbs in 1964. During the years 1957 and 1958, he was the ball boy for Western Suburbs and also for the Australia vs England Test Matches at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 1957 and 58.
After starting the season in reserve grade, Marty received the opportunity to play first grade against Balmain when Col Brown was injured, scoring two tries in his first grade debut.
Marty held onto the first grade position for most of the season but was relegated for Col Brown for the finals.
In 1968, Marty was a regular in reserve grade and was not recalled to first grade until 1969 when Col Brown was relegated. Marty finished the season in reserve grade behind Col Brown.
In 1970, he played in the winning Pre-Season Final team against St George and despite having an injury interrupted season, played in the Semi-Final against St George.
In 1971, Marty was a regular member of the reserve grade team but was relegated to be the third grade captain in the Premiership winning team against St George.
