Martin Ebb joined Canterbury in 1987 as a fullback.

Martin progressed quickly through the grades and was a regular member of the reserve grade team playing in the Preliminary Semi-Final against Easts (Roosters).

In 1988, Martin received the opportunity to play first grade against Cronulla as a replacement. Martin's season was ruined by injury.

In 1989, Martin joined Illawarra to play 32 games from 1989 to 1991.
