Martin Bella played 83 games for North Sydney from 1986 to 1989 as a prop forward.

Martin played 21 games for Queensland from 1987 to 1994. He played nine Tests for Australia from 1986 to 1991.

Martin was selected on the 1986 and the 1990 Kangaroo tours, toured New Zealand in 1989 and Papua New Guinea in 1992.

In 1990, Martin joined Manly to play 57 games from 1990 to 1992.

In 1993, Martin joined Canterbury to a regular first grade prop for two seasons. He played in the Preliminary Final against Brisbane and in 1994 played in the Grand Final against Canberra.

In 1995, Martin joined North Queensland to play 14 games that season and in 1996 joined Gold Coast to play 35 games from 1996 to 1997.
