Mark Harrigan joined Canterbury in 1983 as a half back, alternating between third grade and reserve grade.

Mid-season Mark was moved to lock and received the opportunity to play his only first grade match against Western Suburbs as a replacement. He played in the reserve grade Semi-Final against St George.

Mark joined Western Suburbs in 1984 to play 35 games from 1984 to 1987.
