2017 was a big season for Marcelo Montoya the local junior from the Bankstown Bulls, with an NRL debut season that saw him finish as the team’s leading try scorer with twelve, in addition to picking up the Bulldogs Steve Mortimer Rookie of the Year award.

Marcelo continued his strong showing in the Rugby League World Cup for Fiji and is the first player with a Chilean background to ever play in the NRL.

Following a 2017 season that featured an NRL debut, 19 games and a spot in Fiji's World Cup team, Marcelo 2018 season was cut short with a serious hamstring injury. 

The local junior finished 2018 with 15 games, 38 tackle breaks, two tries and an average of 103.1 run metres per game.

Marcelo finished the 2019 season with 11 games, 18 tackle breaks, two tries and an average of 118.4 run metres, two tries and an average of 118.4 run metres per game.
