Debut 1940: Round 1 vs Eastern Suburbs

Lin Johnson joined Canterbury in 1940 from the Newcastle competition.

A long kicker of the ball in general play, Lin was a fullback of high quality. In his first season with the club, Lin gained selection for his two games for NSW.

He was a member of the 1940 final team that played Easts (Roosters) and a member of the Premiership winning team in 1942.

It was Lin Johnson's awkward goal kick in the mud that somehow fell over the crossbar that broke the deadlock for the 11-9 victory over St George.

A reliable clubman, Lin played 78 consecutive first games. A streak not matched until Paul Langmack's sequence in the mid 1980's.

Lin Johnson is also the brother of Dick Johnson, another fullback that played for the club in the 1940's.

Lin passed away in 1950.

In 2004, Lin was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
