Les Boyle joined Canterbury in 1964 as a lock forward.

Les was a regular in reserve grade and received the opportunity to play first grade later in the season against Balmain when Roger Pearman was injured.

In 1965, Les joined Newtown to play 29 games between 1965 and 1967.
