Leo Toohey played 31 games for Parramatta from 1962 to 1963 as a five eighth.
He joined Canterbury in 1964 and started the season in first grade against his former club Parramatta. By mid-season Leo was relegated to reserve grade for Doug McManus.
In 1965, he reclaimed a regular position in first grade which he held for three seasons.
In 1967, Leo was relegated late in the season to allow Bob Doyle to play five eighth before he returned in 1968 to become the regular pivot.
In 1969, Leo joined North Sydney to play 36 games between 1969 and 1971.
In 2004, Leo was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
