Laurie White joined Canterbury in 1951 as a half back.

Laurie secured a regular position in reserve grade in his initial season. He received his first grade opportunity when Jim Collins was injured.

In 1952, Laurie became a regular member of the first grade team. In 1953, Laurie returned to the reserve grade team playing only one more game in first grade in 1954.

In 1955, Laurie played third grade moving to the second row before returning to the backs in 1956.

Laurie passed away on August 25, 2005.
