Kevin Bennett joined Canterbury in 1954 as a winger.

In 1955, Kevin secured a regular position in the reserve grade and received the opportunity to play first grade at wing,when half Mark McGee was injured, forcing Ray Gartner to play half.

Kevin continued in third grade in 1956 but did not have another opportunity in the higher grades.
