Ken Rowlands joined Canterbury in 1958 as a centre.
He was a regular member of the first grade team for three seasons and played on the wing in the Semi-Final against Easts (Roosters) in 1960.
Ken captained the first grade team on seven occasions when the regular captains (Ray Gartner and Brian Davies) were unavailable.
In 1962, Ken joined Newtown for two seasons, playing a further 10 first grade games.
