Ken Charlton joined Canterbury in 1942 as a prop forward.

After playing seven games in reserve grade, Ken served in the Armed Forces for the remainder of World War II.

Returning to club in 1946, Ken played in the second row behind the famous front row of Henry Porter, Roy Kirkaldy and Eddie Burns.

Ken played in the final of 1946 and the Grand Final of 1947.

When Henry Porter retired, Ken moved to prop for the rest of his playing career.

In 1952, Ken became captain of the team. In total, Ken captain Canterbury on 27 occasions.

After a long first grade career, Ken continued to serve the club as an administrator and was elected into the inaugural board of the Canterbury Leagues Club in 1957 as secretary.

Ken also served as Vice President of the NSWRL in 1961.

The brother of Nev Charlton and father of Tony and Phil Charlton, Ken has played an important role in the growth of the Canterbury Bankstown club.

In 2004, Ken was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.

Ken passed away in November 2012.
