Jim Hargreaves joined Canterbury in 1941 as a winger.

Progressing through the grades, Jim received his opportunity in first grade when Tony Nash and Edgar Newham were both injured.

In 1943, Jim revealed his versatility by playing hooker when Roy Kirkaldy was injured.

In 1994, Jim joined North Sydney.
