Jim Collins joined Canterbury in 1943 as a half back or five eighth.
Progressing through the grades, Jim was able to secure a first grade position in 1944 which he held for the next six out of seven seasons. He played five eighth in the 1946 final against Balmain.
Jim played one game as captain in 1951. After eight seasons of sterling service, Jim continued with the club in an administration role.
From 1962 to 1966, Jim was President of the Football Club, from 1972 to 1980 he was on the management committee and in 2004, he was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
