Jason McLean joined Canterbury in 1990 as a goal kicking centre.
Jason progressed through the grades to become a regular member of the reserve grade team as fullback. He received the opportunity to play first grade against Parramatta when Jason Alchin was injured.
In 1991, Jason became a regular member in the Under 21 team and broke Tom Gillogly's and Ray Kear's record of 149 points for a season. He played in the Premiership winning team against Parramatta.
In 1992, Jason was a regular member of the reserve grade team. In 1993, Jason joined Cronulla to play one first grade game that season.
