Jarrod McCracken joined Canterbury in 1991 as a winger. Jarrod is the son of New Zealand Test winger Ken McCracken.
Jarrod started in first grade against Balmain and soon moved to centre. He played for New Zealand in his initial season but missed the end of season due to suspension. Jarrod was to play 22 Tests for New Zealand from 1991 to 1999, including one match as captain in 1998.
In 1992, Jarrod's season was interrupted by injury but he returned in 1993 to play in the Preliminary Final against Brisbane.
In 1994, Jarrod played in the Grand Final against Canberra and in 1995, he played most of the season before he was relegated before the finals for Brett Dallas.
In 1996, Jarrod joined Parramatta to play 75 games from 1996 to 1999. He had moved to the second row by 1997.
In 2000, Jarrod joined the Wests Tigers but received a neck injury after just eight games and was forced into retirement.
In 2004, Jarrod was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
