Jack Whitfield joined Canterbury late in 1935 to play the last two reserve grade games for the season.
A second rower, Jack remained at the club for two more seasons and made his first grade debut on June 26 against St George in the 1937 City Cup Competition which was played in the second half of the season when Bill Howes was injured.
Jack joined South Sydney in 1938, playing first grade in 1939.
He played 35 first grade games from 1939 to 1945 and later spent one season with Newtown in 1946 where he played four first grade games.
